1.
Removing dampness and arresting vomiting
To treat the syndrome due to invasion of the middle Jiao by
accumulation of cold-dampness with vomiting, it can be used
with Rhizoma Pinelliae and Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae; to
treat dampness-heat syndrome with lassitude and stuffiness of
the chest, with Rhizoma Pinelliae, Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis,
Semen Armeniacae Amarum, etc.; to treat those with Qi-deficiency,
with Radix Codonopsis and Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae;
to treat those with heat in predominance, with Rhizoma Coptidis;
to treat those pregnant women with morning sickness and vomiting
sour fluid (due to influence of fetal energy), it can be used
with Fructus Amomi and Rhizoma Cyperi.
2. Dispersing evils from the superficies and clearing away summer-heat
To treat headache, chilliness and fever, stuffiness of the chest
and abdominal distension with nausea, vomiting or diarrhea,
etc. (due to over eating of cold food or raw vegetables, or
invasion by Caulis Perillae, Rhizoma Pinelliae, Cortex Magnoliae
Officinalis, Pericarpium Arecae, Poria, etc.; to treat syndrome
due to summer-heat, it can be used with Herba Eupatorii, Herba
Menthae and infused in hot water to make a drink, thus manifestations
of summer-heat syndrome such as fullness and heaviness in the
head with stuffiness of the chest accompanied with nausea, feeling
of stickiness in the mouth, poor appetite, etc will be likely
to be cured. Usually the fresh drugs reveal the remarkable effects.
3. Activating the flow of stagnation of Qi to stop pain
To treat syndrome of stagnation of Qi of the spleen and stomach
with distension and pain of the epigastrium and abdomen, it
can used with Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis, Fructus Amomi, Pericarpium
Citri Reticulatae, Radix Aucklandiae, Fructus Aurantii Immaturus,
etc.
Besides, it can be used in treating rhinorrhea in making decoction
mixed with bile of pig. |

6-12g
of the drug are decocted as a dose; and 15-30g of the fresh
are used. The leaves of the drug can produce the effect
of dispersing evils from superfices; the twigs can produce
the effect of regulating middle Jiao; and the fresh plant
has the remarkable effects on clearing away summer-heat,
resolving dampness evil, and preventing human body from
the affection due to invasion by pathogenic or virulent
factors. In making decoction, it is not suitable to be decocted
for a long time.
