ACTIONS AND INDICATIONS
 

1. Inducing diuresis to treat stranguria

In treating stranguria due to heat and stranguria caused by urinary stone, the drug can be used in combination with Caulis Akebiae, Spora Lygodii, Herba Lysimachiae, etc.

2. Clearing away summer-heat

In treating vexation, thirst, dribbling urination or watery diarrhea due to invasion of summer -heat, the drug is often used with Radix Glycyrrhizae.

3. Removing dampness to treat eczema

In treating eczema, the drug is often ground into powder with Alumen, Cortex Phellodendri, etc. and applied to the local area. This drug is also a main ingredient in the prickly-heat powder. This drug can be used to treat lithiasis of the urinary system. It is cold and slippery in nature and therefore may facilitate removal of stones.

ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE
  Dosage and Administration: Usually, 10-20g of the drug id decocted. In treating urolithiasis, the dosage may increase up to 24-30g. Proper amount of the drug can be used locally.

  Applied externally, it has a drying effect on surface moisture; effective remedy for boils and prickly heat.
