ACTIONS AND INDICATIONS
 

1.Relieving asthma

In treating asthma and cough without or with little sputum, the drug can be made into cigarette (with an equal amount of tobacco) for smoking.

2.Relieving pain

In treating gastralgia and abdominal pain, 0.3g of the drug can be used in decoction. In treating arthralgia due to wind, cold and dampness, the decoction of 10g of drug can be used to wash the local area.

3. Relieving spasm

In treating spasm seen in epilepsy or chronic infantile convulsion, the drug can be used in combination with Rhizoma Gastrodiae, Scorpio, etc. According to modern research on anaesthesia by traditional Chinese drug, this drug is used as the main drug used in anaesthesia, which is made into injection together with Radix Aconiti, Radix Aconiti Kusnezoffii, Radix Stephaniae Tetrandrae, etc.

ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE
  When used for oral administration, 0.3-0.6g of the drug is used in decoction. When used for smoking, 0.6--1g of the drug is used. Proper amount of the drug can also be used in external treatment.

REMARKS
  Poisonous; the dried flowers are smoked in a pipe to relieve asthma without phlegm excess; not suitable for use in children; traditionally, the drug has been used as a local anaesthetic before topical surgery; the leaves and seeds are usd as local anaesthetics as well.
