ACTIONS AND INDICATIONS
 

1. Inducing perspiration to disperse evils fron superficies, regulating the spleen to resolve dampness

It is indicated in the illness due to invasion of the exterior by the evil cold as well as invasion of the interior by dampness,remarked by chilliness and fever, heaviness of head and headache, stuffiness of the chest, anhidrosis, abdominal pain with diarrhea etc. Generally, this illness is caused by living at cool place or over taking fruits or cool melons, thus the vital energy is inhibited by such Yin evils; then the syndrome of both ghe exterior and interior occurs. For the treatment of this illness, it is often combined with Dolichos lablab L.and Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis.

2. Promoting diuresis to relieve edema

It is indicated in edema of the head and face, chill and anhidrosis , dysuria. For treating such diseases. 500 g of the drug are decocted with water in a pot. and concentracted into soft extract, in which 250 g the of the powder of RhiaomTtractylodis Mactocephalae are added thus the pills is formed. Usually, 9g of the pills areregarded as a dose, they are taken with water, twice or thrice per day.

ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE
  3-9g of the drug are often prescribed for decoction. And for dispersing cold from superficies, decocting should take a short time; for eliminating edema, take a long time comparatively. The drug has a fragrant odour. If its decoction is taken hot, it may cause vomiting; therefore it sould be takem cool.
