DESCRIPTION |
| |
Seed of
Prunus Persica Prolate-ovate, 1.2~1.8 cm long, 0.8~1.2 cm wide,
0.2~0.4 cm thick. Externally yellowish-brown to reddish-brown,
with numerous granular protrudings. One end acute, expanded
in the middle, the other end obtuse-rounded and slightly oblique,
with relatively thin edge. A short linear hilum occurring by
the acute end and a relatively distinct and slightly dark chalaza
at the round end, with many longitudinal vascular bundles radiated
from the chalaza. Testa thin, cotyledons 2, almost white and
oily. Odour, weak; taste, slightly bitter.
Seed of
Prunus davidiana Subovoid, smaller but thicker, about 0.9
cm long, 0.7 cm wide and 0.5 cm thick.

1.Removing
blood stasis and promoting blood circulation
This
drug can be used to treat amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea,abdominal
masses,etc. which are due to stasis of blood. The drug is
often used in combination with Flos Carthami, Rhizoma Ligustici
Chuanxiong, Radix Angelicae Sinensis,Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata,Radix
Paeoniae Alba, ect. In treating traumatic injury manifested
by pain due to stasis of blood, the circulation and subduing
swelling such as Flos Carthami, Squama Manitis (bake-stirred
with hot sand), win-fried Radix et Rhizoma Rhei, etc.In treating
periappendicular abscess, the drug is often used in combination
with Radix et Rhzoma Rhei, Cortex Moutan Radicis,etc.
2.Moistening
the intestine and ralaxing the bowels
This drug
can be used to treat constipation due dry intestine, and is
often used in combination with Semen Armeniacae Amarum, Fructus
Cannabis, etc. Besides,the drug can also be used in combination
with Semen Armeniacae Amarum to treat cough due to abnormal
rising of Qi. In recent years it is also used to treat pulmonary
abscess, acute appendicitis,etc.
