ACTIONS AND INDICATIONS
  Reducing intense heat to remove heat toxics, relieving dysentery and treating furuncles or sores:

To treat dysentery due heat evil or with bloody stools, the drug can be used for decoction, or its juice of the drug may be taken with honey; it can also be used in preventing bacillary dysentery. To treating carbuncles or furuncles, it can be decocted, and the fresh drug may be used by smearing on the affected area.

Besides, it can be used in treating uterine functional bleeding, metrorrhagia or vaginal spot bleeding or postnatal bleeding; generally it is used with Herba Leonuri, Radix Sanguisorbae, Radix Rubiae and the others for arresting hemmorage. To treat whooping cough, 60g of the dryg may be decocted and divided into three doses.

ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE
  9-15g of the drug may be decocted; the fresh drug should be used in 30-60g; the proper amount is applied to the local affected area.
