Stop RAI and Thyroidectomy
We appeal to stop Radioactive Iodine treatment and Thyroidectomy (if goiter / nodule are benign).
Reason:
- Using less dosage of Radioactive Iodine, patients are still at hyperthyroid position. Patients will still suffer with hyperthyroid symptoms.
- Using larger dosage of Radioactive Iodine, patients will become serious hypothyroidism. They may suffer the terrible hypothyroid symptoms in the rest of their life.
- Thyroid operation includes Thyroid Lobectomy (25% removed), Subtotal Thyroidectomy (50% removed) and Total Thyroidectomy (100% removed). Patinets may be recommend to take thyroid operation if they get goiter or lump in neck.
Over 75% patients will get other nodules in remained thyroid tissues after Thyroid Lobectomy and Subtotal Thyroidectomy. They may need to take 2nd or 3rd operation.
Patients will become serious hypothyroidism after Total Thyroidectomy. Since thyroid gland is very important to human. Most of patients are suffered with terrible hypothyroid symptoms because the hormone replacement (Chemical Medicine) can’t 100% perfect match with human body’s need.

Doctor: I was diagnoses with hyperthyroidism 3 years ago. They radiated my thyroid and it has been hell since then. They have thrown me from hyper to hypo about 7 or 8 times. I am 55 years old, in menopause and have to take Coumadin due to a deep vein thrombosis from 3 years ago. I CAN'T LOOSE WEIGHT! I walk 2 miles a day, my hands, feet and face swell by the end of the day, I eat less than 1000 calories a day, and I still can't get any weight off. If I knew back then, what I know now, I never would have radiated my thyroid. I can't get my doctors to look at any thing but that stupid, generalized test. I am in hypo now; she said I was at a one on the last test. I take 10 MCG of Cytomel daily, 50 MCG of Levothyroxin Daily and 5 MG of Coumadin 5 days a week and 7.5 2 days a week. I can't stand to put on any more weight because it causes my leg to swell. All these doctors want to do is put me on anti-depressants. I am not depressed; I am pissed because they can't give me my energy back. Please help! One doctor told me I needed to accept the fact that I am an older, over-weight woman. Needless to say, I don’t see him any more! Your time and consideration are very much appreciated! Geri

Dear Doctor, My friend who is 63 years old was treated for an over active thyroid 12 years ago. She had to have 3 treatments of raioactive iodine to try and destroy her thyroid and is now on 100mg of Thyroxine.
Since this happened her life is almost over she has been very ill and no matter how much more thyroxine she takes it does not help her. Is there any chance that part of her thyroid is still working, how can she find out and the final question would T.T. be of any help to her.

hi first my thyroid was hyper active, my eyes poped out and the white of my eys was yellow but i weighed 50 kg. The doctors discovered that my thyroid was hyper active and they gave me radio active jodium (only one tablet)
Today after 4years i weigh 110 kg my eyes are still popping out and the whites are still yellow, I am always tired and I just don't want to do anything. I had 2 miscarriges and after that I had to have a hystorectomy and a ovarectomy. I have tried diets and Gym, when that didn't work I went to a clinic where they shock you with a machine to lose weight, but it didnt work. now my question is do I have settle for my life looking like a person who's not doing anything about themselves or is there some way I can get my body looking like it did before i got ill?
I really hope you can help me, I am out of ideas.
